Delacroix
Delacroix was euthanized on March 25, 2010. Jen wrote a very nice eulogy, which we decided to post below. Thank you Jen for your love to Delacroix, as we could not find better words ourselves to describe our deep sorrow and loss of this wonderful horse and companion to us for the past 16 years. Fare well, old friend!

I'm not really sure why I'm posting this, I guess I just need some virtual hugs from people who know how strong the bond can be between a person and a horse. Although I didn't own him, I rode and showed him for a few years. Delacroix, at the young age of 23, was put down today due to suspected colic complications. This horse literally made some of my childhood dreams come true! He was my first FEI horse, took me to Devon, won the Keswick Freestyle Challenge two years in a row, placed third in the Cosequin/USDF Musical Freestyle year end awards and Int. I, played Pumba in the equine adaptation of The Lion King, was a superb teacher and an amazing companion. He was a very good dressage horse, was absolutely hilarious, LOVED a crowd (never known a horse to love a crowd that much), and at 17.2, had a very puffy mane and forelock - like a Shetland pony. He has been retired for a while now, but the memories we shared will never be forgotten.
Thank you, Ashanti Farm, for giving me the chance to ride such an amazing horse. And thank you, Dela, you will forever have a special place in my heart that no one else can fill. Rest in peace dear friend.

Prima Ballerina
Prima Ballerina has been sold. Her new owner, Veronica is thrilled. Prima Ballerina will remain at AFI for training from time to time and will show with her new owner/rider. |

Exupery
Exupery had another serious colic early July and has recovered from surgery after 5 weeks in the hospital near Vienna. We are all very, very sad, but hope that Exupery will provide us and of course Caroline with a few more years of his company.
Due to the seriousness of his last colic, we together with Caroline decided to retire Exupery from the competition sport. Caroline will keep riding Exupery at home on a regular basis, as she can still learn a lot from him. |

Carreras
Carreras has become Gabriele’s new Grand Prix horse. He is a great schoolmaster and a gentleman to his new lady rider. |

Derringer
Derringer is enjoying his Retirement very much. Being the reason of the existence of Ashanti Farm Inc, he has received a generous Stall (12x24) and his own large paddock and of course lots of attention, as always. He will still be used for breeding, since he has produced such wonderful offspring over the past decade. Thus Derringer is available for breeding in 2009 again.
Look for Derringer on our homepage. News about Derringer is updated on this web site frequently. Fresh and Frozen Semen is available in the 2009-breeding season.

Upcoming Events
The July 2009 Clinic with Bruno Greber, was indeed a great success. Sold out for all three days all Rider Participants left with smiling faces and the Auditors enjoyed Bruno’s teachings and educational comments very much. The clinic was held in our covered outdoor arena with its sophisticated P/A system. The weather was just perfect on all three days. On Saturday evening we all met at “Fabio’s” Restaurant in Gordonsville for excellent food and conversations.
We would like to thank all our Customers, Clients, Friends and Sponsors – Flow of Charlottesville and Southern States - for their continued support and promise to arrange for another clinic with Bruno in 2010.
