Ashanti Farm

On Wednesday, July 20, 2011, Carreras suffered a fatal colic and had to be euthanised. This came so quickly and surprising, as Carreras was in great shape for his age, he turned 20 this year in February. We got Carreras as a 5 year old. He spent 7 years with Arthur Kottas in Austria, who trained him to Grand Prix. Caroline and Carreras both started their careers under Arthur’s training and guidance. They competed successfully in Europe and participated in the European Junior Championships in France and Lippiza and won numerous GP’s. In 2003 Carreras came, together with Bruno Greber, Ashanti Farm’s certified Trainer, to Ashanti Farm. Carreras and Bruno competed in CDI’s successfully in the States.
In 2009, Carreras survived a serious colic surgery, recovered incredibly well and enjoyed his lessons at Ashanti Farm, whereas he taught Gabriele and Barbara the highest level of riding a correct Grand Prix test.
In his stall, he would throw hay up in the air on his head and fall asleep, with his head covered with hay. He was one of the most gentle stallions, we know, his lovely eyes always looking happy. At feeding time, he would call ‘me first, I am the boss in this stable’, to remind the grooms of that.
